Pupils at Leicester Grammar Senior and Junior schools are now enjoying their new and thoroughly modern surroundings in Great Glen. The £33 million project has created the finest new independent school in the country and has brought together the two schools on one site for the first time. Independent, co-education can now be offered to girls and boys all the way from the age of 3 up to 18 in one convenient rural location. Purpose-built facilities have been designed to boost the learning potential and interests of all pupils.

Both schools benefit from a surrounding 75 acres of grass playing fields which include 2 all-weather floodlit hockey pitches, 4 rugby pitches, a dedicated cricket pitch, 8 hard tennis courts and netball courts. The indoor sports complex offers badminton, netball and basketball in the main hall, a well-equipped fitness suite, gymnasium, a dance sudio and a 25 metre, 6 lane heated swimming pool.

The main school building has a large library at its heart, with a music recital room complete with recording studio, a drama studio and an assembly hall capable of seating an audience of 450 for concerts, plays and lectures. The entire site is fully networked with significant investment in computers - there are 50 in the senior library alone - interactive whiteboards and projectors. The car park has a capacity for 170 vehicles.

The sixth form lounge provides a central hub for the A level students while the main refectory provides food and drink from breakfast to well after the end of the time tabled day. A cashless catering system enables payment for all refreshments to be convenient for all ages of pupil. An on-site cafe is also available exclusively for the 6th form and for use by parents.

Leicester Grammar school pupils consistently achieve outstanding academic results with 80% of A level students gaining A or B grades, 10% of U6 leavers receive places at Oxford or Cambridge and all of the U6 leavers qualified for their chosen degree course. Balancing the educational experience has always been of importance within the school’s ethos and this year trips have included the battlefields of N.W Europe, the art galleries of New York and a hockey, netball, rugby tour of Australia. There has never been a more exciting time for the schools and adding first class, brand new facilities to the existing outstanding teaching will mean that we can offer your children the very best start in life.
