An amazing performance of Oliver from the students of Our Lady's Convent
Pupils from both the Junior and the Senior Schools at Our Lady’s Convent School joined together to give an unforgettable performance of Oliver! Such an interest was shown by pupils that initial auditions for Principal parts were held in the Schools very own “I’ll do Anything” which provided a wonderful lunchtime concert. These auditions yielded such depth of talent that it was decided to have two teams of Principals who performed two nights each.
Classic songs such as ‘Consider Yourself’ and ‘Be Back Soon’ were accompanied by the School orchestra.
The show was delivered with enthusiasm and tremendous talent which provided the perfect ingredients for a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
Head of Music Mr Henry who directed and produced the show was extremely pleased with the cast. “There are some really talented girls at this School and it was wonderful for them to have the opportunity to show their talent.”
Year 11 pupil Emily Cox who played the Artful Dodger comments: “When it was announced that I was going to be Dodger I was really excited but rather nervous about the first rehearsal since I
had minimum singing experience. However, my confidence and ability to sing has soared with the help of the cast and Mr Henry. Being part of Oliver! has been great fun, with the chance to make new friends, improve talents and learning to laugh at myself when I sing out of tune!”
Our Lady’s Convent School is a Catholic day school that extends a warm welcome to children of all faiths and denominations. We educate girls from 3 to 18 and boys from 3 to 11 and guarantee small class sizes in order to focus on the individual child. They are helped, encouraged and supported rather than pressured which, as a result, both our GCSE and A Level students achieved a 100% pass rate this year. 92% of our GCSE pupils achieved 5 or more grade A* to C and 79% of our A Level students achieved an A to C grade.
