On the run in aid of Leicester's hospitals
Fundraisers at Leicester’s Hospitals are asking people to put on their running shoes and take part in The Big Fun Run in aid of Leicester Hospitals Charity.
The Big Fun Run will take place at Abbey Park on Saturday 22 August and is an opportunity for fitness fanatics to pull on their tracksuits, run 5km and raise money for a worthy cause.
Leicester Hospitals Charity raises money to be used across the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital. Money raised through fundraising is spent on research and development, innovative equipment and used to make the hospital more welcoming and homely for patients and visitors.
The hospital charity has raised money for numerous items including the patient transport buggies at the Royal Infirmary and the Diabetes Bus - a service which offers diabetes screening in the community.
Debbie Adlerstein, fundraising manager, said: “Historically fundraising has played a really important part in our income generation. For example without the generosity of fundraisers we would not have the Osborne Building onsite.
“I would encourage anyone interested in a challenge to take part in The Big Fun Run. It is a great opportunity to run or walk 5km and support your local hospitals at the same time.”
