Loughborough Tennis coach Pankhurst plays alongside Murray brothers
Loughborough head tennis coach John Pankhurst was part of a North of Scotland team to include Britain’s top tennis players Andy and Jamie Murray at the recent AEGON Summer County Cup in Eastbourne.
Pankhurst, who was selected to his county team for the 15th consecutive year, helped his side remain in Division One during the week-long competition, leaving it to the final match of the final day to seal their spot in the top group.
Andy Murray kept a clean sheet as he thrilled the Eastbourne spectators on the Wednesday, with his brother Jamie joining the competition for the final three days.
Pankhurst, who undertook some sessions with Jamie ahead of the US Open last year, was really pleased the pair joined the team for the Cup.
“It’s brilliant to play with these guys and really exciting,” he said. “County week is always an enjoyable competition and there is a great team spirit. When both Murray brothers turned out in the Wednesday it was a massive highlight for players and spectators.”
