Superb professional art series to be shown on Sky 171 and the country channel

Produced by APV Films Artworks is a high quality thirteen-part art TV series coming to The Country Channel at www.countrychannel.tv and Sky 171.  The series consists of a wide range of professionally made art films that instruct, inspire and fascinate in equal measures.

The featured artists are all internationally renowned masters and include David Bellamy, Aubrey Philips, Karen Simmons, Ron Ranson, James Fletcher-Watson, Barry Watkin, David Curtis and John Yardly. During the course of the series these top artists draw, sketch and paint in watercolour, oil, pastel and acrylic.  The artists work at a variety of stunning locations from the dynamic scenery of the Lake District and the rugged British coastline to Staithes Harbour and the landscaped gardens of Blenheim Palace.

The subject matter covered is diverse and includes painting, sketching and drawing flowers, skies, mountains, trees, moving water, foregrounds, harbours, boats, buildings and reflections.  The artists also look at how to capture less tangible subject matter such as the vibrancy of autumn colours, the freshness and immediacy of a scene and the mood of an estuary at low tide.  A wide range of techniques are demonstrated by the artists and this series is sure to inspire and inform the novice and experienced artist alike.

Paul Aitken (Country Channel CEO) is delighted to be showing the Artworks series: “This is a great opportunity for us to develop the arts based programming available on The Country Channel. There is a huge art orientated interest group out there not being very well served by current TV output and our partnership with APV films will help to fill that gap. Artworks is a first class series featuring first class artists.”

Artworks will be launched on Sky 171 (My Channel) and on The Country Channel on Monday 7pm 1st February 2010.  Each programme from the ten-part series will then be broadcast every Monday (7pm) on Sky 171 and The Country Channel for the duration of the series. Repeats can be seen each week on Sky 171 on Tuesdays at 8.30am & 12noon and Saturdays at 7.30pm.  Each programme in the series will be available as free-to-view video-on-demand on The Country Channel at www.countrychannel.tv
