Rothley golf club hosts 4th annual golf tournament for Loros

A young team of Golfers, aged 15-18 years won the 4th Annual LOROS Golf Tournament held at Rothley Park Golf Club on 30th April, 2010. The team were named “FORE DAWN” in memory of the Aunt of one of the players. They were sponsored to play, raising £1,000, and Luke Atkins (team member) won the Men’s Longest Drive.

Runners-up were Weightmans Solicitors and third Spearing Waite. The Ladies Longest Drive was won by Helen Lynch and Ladies Nearest the Pin by Ann Coupland. Men’s Nearest the Pin was won by Brian Childs.

The event was once again a great success with 22 teams beginning with a shotgun start and raising valuable funds of almost £8,000 for LOROS to help provide care for local terminally ill patients and support for their families. Alan Birchenall, LOROS Patron and Leicester City FC Ambassador, came to cheer the teams on.

Diane Morris, Fundraising Manager for LOROS, said “I would like to thank all the players for their generosity, the Sponsors of the Event which included Spire Leicester Hospital, SJ Events, Sturgess, Next, Mosdorfer CCL, KPMG, Sygnet and RBS, Rothley Park Golf Club for their support and all the local Companies who donated items for the Auction and Raffle. A great day was had by all and congratulations to all the prize winners.”
