Mercedes-Benz of Leicester to celebrate landmark anniversary with new model launch
Mercedes-Benz of Leicester will be marking the 125th anniversary of the co founder of Mercedes-Benz creating the world’s first car with the launch of another trendsetting model – the new generation CLS-Class.
The St. Georges Way retailer will officially unveil the striking four-door coupé at a special anniversary event, which will be held from 3rd-6th March and pay homage to the breakthrough of Karl Benz in creating the first motor car and ‘Benz’ in 1886 – the three-wheeled Motorwagen.
Those who visit Mercedes-Benz during the anniversary event weekend will certainly not be disappointed, the new generation CLS-Class being one of the most exciting Mercedes-Benz to date and a fitting tribute to the unprecedented engineering that the legendary manufacturer is acclaimed for.
The new CLS-Class will be available to order and drive during the event. Mercedes-Benz of Leicester will have a number of examples available from the cutting-edge range, which from launch will consist of the 265hp CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY diesel, 306hp CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY petrol V6 and, for the first time ever, a four-cylinder version in the shape of the refined CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY diesel. A phenomenal AMG version will follow later in the year along with the V8-powered CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. With athletic styling and an AMG-styled Sport model now featuring in the CLS-Class lineup for the first time, the strong performance of the sleek Coupé is never in doubt. However, although the luxurious CLS-Class delivers a sporty yet refined drive, its dynamism isn’t to the detriment of efficiency. For example, the twin-turbo CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 150mph yet emits as little as 135g/km CO2 and returns an impressive 54.3mpg on the combined fuel economy cycle.
Technological advancements are not only limited to the engines. The CLS-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz model to have frameless, all-aluminium doors and its electromechanical power steering is a world first, the system only using energy when the CLS-Class is actually being steered and providing an unprecedented level of feel between the driver, car and road.
The CLS-Class also debuts LED High Performance headlamps for the first time in a passenger car and all models feature the enhanced 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission as standard. In addition to 18” alloy wheels, leather interior and satellite navigation, the entry model now has front and rear Parktronic with Active Park Assist, Attention Assist and a DAB digital radio as standard too. The CLS Sport adds 19” AMG alloy wheels, AMG bodystyling and LED High Performance headlights.
Adrian Beaumont, General Manager of Mercedes-Benz of Leicester, is looking forward to sharing such an important anniversary with customers and introducing them to the new generation CLS-Class.
“We’re proud to have a history that includes what is recognised as the very first motor car and we’re relishing the opportunity to show motorists that today’s Mercedes-Benz, especially the new CLS-Class, are just as exciting and pioneering as that very first three-wheeler was then,” said Adrian.
“The chance to be one of the first to see the all-new CLS-Class in the metal is not to be missed and we’re going to be pulling out all the stops to make it an unforgettable experience for our visitors.”
