Digging out their pork pie hats and polishing their shades Blues Brothers fans gathered at the Phoenix cinema for a charity screening of the classic 1980’s film to raise funds for Hope Against Cancer.

Accompanied by music from the Kainé Gospel Choir and spurred on by the Cleveland College Dancers, partygoers demonstrated they were still able to Shake Ya Tail Feather and give some Respect!

The evening raised £225 for our local cancer research charity and Gary and Gill Meadows along with David and Janet Southwood won the prize for the best dressed!

Hope Against Cancer was launched in 2003 and to date have raised over £2.2 million, enabling the charity to fund 24 research fellowships in the Hospitals and Universities of Leicester including DMU & Loughborough Helping with research into many cancers including bladder, ovarian, prostate, melanoma, liver, bowel, leukaemia, colorectal and breast cancer. They have also funded nursing fellowships, relating to patient care.
