Music to raise the roof

The recent concert organised by Musical Village on behalf of Brainwaves Brain Tumour Support was a terrific success. Musical Village is a group of enthusiastic and talented singers and musicians of all ages directed by the hugely motivated Lesia Smaditch who is the founder and inspiration behind the group. The musical extravaganza featured four adult choirs of Musical Village, Earl Shilton Hand Bell Ringers, Enderby Band, Musical Village Youth Chorale & Theatre Groups and soloists. The programme ranged from traditional English carols to Ukrainian songs and had the audience singing and swinging in the aisles raising the roof.

The event was held in the magnificent acoustic setting of the Ukranian Church in Leicester and performed to a capacity audience. Guests included the Chairman of Blaby District Council, Councillor Barry Garner and Bishop Hlib Lonchyna, the Leader of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the United Kingdom who travelled from London to attend

Music to raise the roof
The concert raised over £2000 for the Brainwaves Brain Tumour Support Group Charity. Brainwaves offers support to brain tumour patients as well as their families, friends and carers at its monthly meetings held on the first Thursday of every month at Helen Webb House 35 Westleigh Road, Leicester LE3 0HH. Those affected by a brain tumour have the opportunity to interact, socialise and relax in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Also regular speakers provide a range of relevant advice and information on a wide range of subjects. Brainwaves also campaigns to increase awareness of brain tumours and raise funds for research and training to improve treatment.

The funds raised by Musical Village will help Brainwaves to be even more active and effective in the coming months and the trustees give their thanks to Musical Village for this fun and successful event.
