London tailors Cad and the Dandy order the best of British for Mike Tindall
Published by admin on Wed, 2011-07-06 16:44England rugby star Mike Tindall will claim his Royal bride – Zara Phillips (the Queen’s granddaughter) – later this month clad in a classic black barathea morning suit fashioned by London bespoke tailors, Cad and the Dandy, from Huddersfield cloth.
In keeping with tradition the bride’s dress will remain a secret to be revealed only on the day, but currently odds are on the designer being Paul Costelloe, who designed the ensemble Zara wore to the wedding of her cousin, Prince William, in April.
Mr Tindall’s tailors have revealed that the groom, the fathers of the bride and bridegroom, as well as the ushers will all be dressed to impress in complementary Huddersfield cloth suits at the wedding, to be held at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh on Saturday, 30 July. The cloth is being supplied by premier English cloth merchants, Dugdale Brothers.
“It is going to be an elegant affair, just like the ‘other’ Royal wedding in April,” said James Sleater, the former banker who, with his partner Ian Meiers, turned his hand to making traditional tailoring trendy. Cad & the Dandy operate salons in Savile Row, Canary Wharf and the City, turning out made-to-measure suits, shirts and overcoats.
He said the men would all wear a classic morning suit, with the trousers sporting a slightly lighter stripe than the traditional to make them more up to date. Waistcoats of dove grey or buff will tone with the bridesmaid’s dresses, and they will be shod in smart, shiny Oxfords.
“We’ll make sure Mike cuts a dashing figure in front of all his new Royal relations,” said Mr Sleater.
The wedding will be attended by the Queen and Prince Philip, as well as Prince William and his new wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, along with numerous other Royals.
