Melton big bake competition presentation July 2011

The trophy for overall winner of the Melton BIG BAKE competition was presented at Hambleton Bakery, Cottesmore Road, Exton, Oakham, Rutland. Julian Carter the Head Baker received the trophy on behalf of Tim Hart of Hambleton Bakery.

The award was made by Stephen Jeal of NFU Mutual at Melton Mowbray who sponsored the award and a representative of Leicestershire Food Links who ran the competition with support from the Real Bread Campaign.

Hambleton Bakery won four classes overall with Northfield Farm coming a close 2nd with two prizes. The prize winning loaf winner of the “Upper Crust 2011” was a Country Sourdough with Rye.

This is the second year that the baking competition has been run and promotes the resurgence of Real Bread in the area.
