An expert styling team from a city salon, armed with only scissors, straighteners and two comfy settees, set up camp right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of town, offering a sit down and a hair spruce up at the same time.

Shoppers were able to rest their tired legs and give their purses a break, and indulge in some complimentary open air pampering and styling courtesy of the al fresco pop up Barrie Stephen Hair salon.

“We thought we’d break out of the salon walls and carry out red carpet styling in a very different environment,” Barrie explains.”Hairdressing has the power to make people feel amazing about themselves, and anyone could come and have a consultation, fringe trim or more of an elaborate updo or style.”

“Going to the hairdresser is an affordable luxury to many, but for some an expense too far, so hopefully, our styling sofas ensured that anybody could freely experience some expert styling and leave feeling fantastic. The event was a great success attracting lots of different ages… from grandmothers to mums, to teenagers, to young professional males and of course, they all left feeling red carpet gorgeous! It was a lovely thing to do to brighten up people’s lunchtime. ”

The salon has previously gone into hospitals to style patients on the oncology ward, welcomed Women’s Refuge ladies in for free cuts and colours and linked up with local businesses for fashion show styling as a way of offering their services to the city.
