Mount group hosts gala dinner in aid of Riding for the Disabled
The event hosted and organised by Jo Dolan, was to raise funds for the Mount Group Riding for the Disabled, based at Somerby in Leicestershire, where Jo is a volunteer. With the aid of Christine Hamilton and the Henley Farrell Big Band £4,500 was raised for the Charity, by way of donations, raffle and the proceeds of the night.
The Group have over 180 members, with 50 people riding over 4 days each week, helped by 8 Instructors and over 40 Volunteers. They own 4 horses and are lent 2 to 3 each week by Gail Stimson of Somerby Equestrian Centre to make up the number of horses that are required. The money raised will go towards the £25,000 needed each year to run the Group, which is entirely self funding and receives no government or council aid.
A special thanks was given at the Dinner to Pat Bishop, Chairperson and Di Poyser, the Group Organiser who have given a total of 45 years of support between them.
