Butler Sherborn’s Farm Agency reports strong start to the year
Butler Sherborn’s Farm Agency is reporting a strong start to the year for both amenity and commercial land, despite the miserable weather of recent weeks according to head of the department, Richard Greasby.
Approximately 80 acres of arable land at Hayden Farm between Cheltenham and Gloucester has just been sold by Butler Sherborn at over £8,000 an acre, and 47 acres of land near Hailes Abbey, Winchcombe is under offer close to the guide price of £320,000.
“Supply is still scarce but we are receiving some interesting opportunities to bring other land to the market this year”, says Richard. “There seems to be an increase in the sale of peripheral parts of farms or land portfolios. Sellers are wanting to release capital by taking advantage of strong prices at the same time as not devaluing their core holding”.
This supply into the market is being matched by strong demand, often by non-farmers looking for small parcels of land up to 50 acres. “The right opportunities can be hard to find so registering your interest with selling agents is key,” says Richard.
In addition to selling land, Butler Sherborn also helps potential buyers find what they are looking for and assists in its negotiation and purchase.
