High Sheriff Awards Ceremony
On Monday 8th April, the High Sheriff of Leicestershire, Richard Brooks, held an end-of-year Service and Awards Ceremony at St Wistan’s Church, Wistow. In his valedictory speech, he spoke of “all the wonderful people we have met, public services we inspected, sporting venues we have attended, businesses we have visited, charities and religions we have learnt about and universities we wished we were studying at”.
Particular reference was made to the excellence of police and fire services in the County, some wonderful achievements by Youth Club leaders, Princes Trust, Warning Zone, the Youth Offending Service and Leicester Riders in the community, and the information presented on Radio Leicester. The ceremony was followed by formally handing over the office of High Sheriff to Mrs Sally Bowie for the coming year, and a reception was hosted by Richard and his wife, Diana, at Wistow Hall afterwards.
