Mattioli Woods Rothley 10K - A Running Success
On the 11th June over 450 runners descended upon the village of Rothley for one of the most celebrated charity road races in Leicestershire, the Mattioli Woods Rothley 10k.
Runners from all age groups and backgrounds showed up in force for its 28th year to raise essential funds for a variety of local causes, including Rainbows, LOROS, County Air Ambulance Service, Age UK, Eye Camps and RNLI. The run was a great success and is estimated to have raised in excess of £15,000 which is a fantastic result.
Ian Mattioli, Chief Executive of main sponsor Mattioli Woods plc, said: “The event was a huge success and I was taken aback by the support that was demonstrated to help raise vital funds for organisations and charities based in Leicestershire”.
Stuart Spencer from Barrow Runners was the overall winner of the race with a time of 33.07 minutes and his club won both the male and female runner categories. Mia Weston from Hermitage Harriers won the female veteran category in 45.37 minutes and Spencer Newport from Barrow Runners won the male veteran category in 34.52 minutes.
The race also included junior categories, where Josh Gilbert-Weavers from Charnwood AC won the male junior category in 35.08 minutes and Megan Holland won the female junior category in 48.52 minutes. The Woodies won the female team and Pole Arnold won the male team.
