Tennants Autumn Fine Art Sale 15th/16th November
Bidding was brisk across the board at the latest Tennants Fine Art sale with a healthy total of £1.5 million. Interest was particularly keen in the silver, jewellery and picture sections with a noticeably buoyant and encouraging set of results for the currently more subdued furniture sector of the market.
Contributions to the auction from local Rutland vendors included a late 19th century gilded clock garniture which made a healthy £2800, a pair of George V silver Goblets made for the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers realised £900 and a late 19th century oil painting of The Lagoon, Venice by Guilio Cecchini made £1400.
The Tennants ‘Heart of England’ office continues to grow in stature fuelled by the regular bi-weekly valuation days held in Oakham and at the Falcon in Uppingham by consultant and BBC Antiques Roadshow specialist Marc Allum.
