Eskimo Blue Pottery & Boutique

Eskimo Blue Pottery & BoutiqueLeicester-based potter Charlotte Barker is aiming to raise money for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Inspired by the ceramic poppy installation at the Tower of London, Charlotte has hand-made a selection of poppies at her Clarendon Park workshop, which will sell through her boutique gallery in The Silver Arcade, and other outlets, between now and Remembrance Day, 11th November 2014.

The poppies can be purchased as brooches and other jewellery, or as striking plants on copper stems. They will cost £15 each, £5 of which will go to the Leicestershire County Branch of the Royal British Legion.

Charlotte, who’s own family history tells of loss in the Great War, is keen to combine her love of crafting unique and beautiful objects with her desire to raise money for a worthy cause.

“The sacrifices made in the past, and in our present day, should always be kept in mind. The poppy is an enduringly poignant symbol of those whose bravery we can only wonder at” she says, citing in particular her Great Grandfather, who died in the First World War.
