Thousands Raised for Local Charities by Birmingham Sports Awards
A total of £4000 has been raised for Midlands based charities, Cure Leukaemia and the Stephen Staunton Foundation. The funds were raised at the Birmingham Sports Awards held last year, through a number of fundraising activities that took place throughout the evening.
A cheque for £2,000 was awarded by Trinity Mirror Midlands and brand agency, Champions (UK) plc on Tuesday 6th January 2015 to Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland football legend, Stephen Staunton. The Stephen Staunton Foundation was founded in 2012 with the aim of Stephen returning the generosity he received from the community throughout his career.
The ceremony was organised by brand agency Champions (UK) plc, providing a great opportunity to raise money and awareness for the Stephen Staunton Foundation which supports the St Giles Hospice in Walsall and Cure Leukaemia, a charity set up to allow patients with blood cancer to access remarkably effective treatments.
Cure Leukaemia will also be presented with a donation of £2,000 to help with the fantastic services that they provide to blood cancer patients across the West Midlands.
