The National Space Centre will be welcoming one of the world's most advanced robots to the centre for an event that celebrates the diversity in the amazing world of robots.

Robotopia, now in it's fourth year at the centre, is the regions largest event that showcases the huge array of robots in our daily life, as well as the technology that you thought only found in science fiction.

The highlight this year will be the University of Plymouth world-leaders in computer science research and their one metre high baby humanoid robot; the 'iCub', a robot that could lead to the development of humanoid robots which learn, think and talk.

Angelo Cangelosi, Professor in Artificial Intelligence said: "The outcome of the research will define the scientific and technological requirements for the design of humanoid robots able to develop complex behavioural, thinking and communication skills through individual and social learning."

In addition to this amazing high end science the National Space Centre will also be working with other clubs, companies and academia to ensure that there is something for everyone.

Visitors will asl be able to meet the stars from TV's Robot Wars, as they battle it out in the Robots Live Arena, as well as take on various hands-on robot challenges, test their skills at driving their own robots or go head to head at robot soccer.

Families will also be able to take part in robot building workshops and hear direct from the experts about the amazing realities and future possibilities of robots in the world around us.
