An exhibiTion of rarely seen work by artist L s Lowry will go on show later this year at nottingham’s Djanogly art gallery.

This diverse collection of Lowry’s work, never seen together before, will provide a great insight into his art and life, with something for everyone to enjoy.

Neil walker, curator at Lakeside arts centre, said: “we are delighted and feel privileged to have such a fantastic exhibition on here in nottingham. famed for his scenes of industrial england and matchstick men images, Lowry is very well known among art lovers and novices alike.

“This is a timely exhibition revealing Lowry as an artist far more complex, individual and varied in his subject matter than is widely recognised. it will include works from public and private collections many of which have rarely been seen in public before and will come as a complete revelation to those who only associate him with pictures of the Lancashire mills.”

The exhibition will focus on Lowry’s work from the 1920s until the mid 1950s.

This exhibition includes a large loan of important works from the collection of The Lowry, salford which has been generously supported by the Lowry estate and will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue.

The L s Lowry exhibition will take place in the Djanogly art gallery at Lakeside arts centre from wednesday 16 november 2011 – sunday 5 february 2012.
