Another super musical evening follow that star
Performed by the Kingfisher Chorale under the direction of Giles Turner. This midlands based choir of some repute is one of the leading chamber choirs in the country. On Saturday 10th December 2011 at 7.30pm in St Wilfrids Church the Kingfisher Chorale will be performing a musical concert entitled ‘Follow that Star’. It will be an Evening of Christmas Music and Readings. The Kingfisher Chorale was founded in 1992 by David Fisher . A quick glance at their impressive website will show you how extensive their repertoire is and how experienced this choir is. They have given concerts in lots of places abroad as well as in this country.
The choir won through to the finals of the Sainsburys choir of the Year Competition appearing on the BBC TV and Radio.
Many works have been written for the choir and concerts have been given at Musical Festivals, National Trust venues and many of the University Concert series in Leicester not forgetting the annual concert in Leicester’s medieval Guildhall.
Kingfisher Chorale has received critical acclaim for its work across a wide repertoire spanning Medieval music to a number of commissions and world premieres. The choir has championed less well known repertoire including works by Biber and Distler. It has developed a reputation for its performances of contemporary music including works by Fisher, Pärt, Crump, Downes, Sjoberg, Jewitt and Duxbury. ‘Follow that Star’ aims to be just another fabulous evening.
