The Melton Mowbray Jubilee Show: Thrill seekers, animal lovers, sporting heros and petrol heads look no further

Organisers of this year’s sensational Melton Mowbray Jubilee Show on Bank Holiday Monday June 4th are promising a right royal celebration with some of the best family entertainment in the UK. At the heart of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations the Melton Show has a thrilling programme of international stunt teams including monster trucks, jousting, South African acrobats, world champion trials bike rider, parachutists and stars from the world of in-line skating, boarding and BMX.

This little market town draws crowds up of to 20,000 at this annual event which has rivalled anything a city can offer for 30 years. Without the backing of any public money it continues to be unbeatable for the sheer amount of entertainment and activities laid on for the many thousands who come to enjoy the spectacle.

Gill West, organiser of the Melton Mowbray Jubilee Show, said: “It’s a great day out for all the family and, at only £5 per person, and £1 for under 12’s it is also fantastic value. Just pop down to the town parks and get your tickets on the gate.”

Animal lovers can look forward to the madness of terrier racing, the grace of falconry, the real horsepower of Shire horses, and the challenge of entering their family pet in the fun dog show which is searching for the Melton Jubilee Show’s “Supreme Champion”

Leicester Tigers are on hand to give free coaching to the children and for lovers of skating, boarding and BMX there are free coaching sessions from the experts of Team Extreme.

The motor trade show and classic car rally add to the attractions, as do a large craft fair, unique goat show - with opportunities for milking, bottle feeding and cheese making – programme of bandstand music, trade exhibits, charity stands and amusements.

For the lovers of all things culinary there is a special events kitchen presided over by Chef Carl Shillingford, who has worked in Michelin starred houses in France and the UK for more than 18 years and has worked with icon Michel Roux. There is even a pizza eating competition and yes, Melton’s twin stars, pork pies and stilton cheese, are among the many tasty delights on the showground.
