Meet the Tudors, experience witty outdoor theatre, feel the spirit of The Home Front and join in the piratical antics at Donington le Heath Manor House this August.

The Importance of Being Earnest

On Thursday 9th August 2-4pm, children can Meet the Tudors and learn about life in Tudor England as part of our Summer School holiday activity programme. Find out how we beat the Spanish Armada, how to lay a table for dinner in Tudor Style and see fashions of the time, plus a chance to have a go at craft activities to take home. ADMISSION FREE with small charge for crafts

On Friday 10th at 7.30pm the ever popular Chapterhouse Theatre Company bring Oscar Wilde’s gently satirical comedy ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ to the lovely setting of the Donington le Heath Manor House Gardens. Gates open at 6pm for picnics. Tickets are available on the night.

Sunday 12th from 11-4pm sees Donington go back to the dark days of the blitz, with rationing, make do and mend and the Home Guard and Civil Defence ever vigilant for Nazi invaders. With costumed re-enactors, period games and children’s crafts. ADMISSION FREE with small charge for crafts

On Thursday 16th August 11-1pm and 2-4pm boys and girls are invited to sharpen their cutlasses, don their eye-patches, shiver their timbers and climb aboard for some piratical fun at PIRATES AHOY! Sea songs, fancy dress costume, treasure hunt and an epic pirate battle! Aaaarg! ADMISSION FREE with small charge for crafts
