Leicester Racecourse team up with Big Daddies Diner for 2016

Race-goers of Leicestershire have witnessed a dramatic turnaround at Leicester Racecourse since the arrival of Rob Bracken (or ‘Racing Rob’) as General Manager. Rob has been at the helm for less than two years and his mission to attract and excite visitors is still firmly at the forefront of his vision for the racecourse. With the recent announcement of the collaboration with Big Daddies Diner in the New Year coming as an appetising prospect, it’s clear to see how Rob is steering the Racecourse to become one of the East Midlands hotspots for both leisure activities, as well as a conferencing and events venue.

Known for his love of food and knowledge of catering on a large scale, Rob has been instrumental in modernising Leicester Racecourse, both its facilities and its overall appeal as a day out for all audiences. This latest reform is a chance for Rob to introduce some extra flavour to proceedings.

Big Daddies Diner is renowned across the Midlands for its gourmet street food.  Based in Lutterworth, this family run business have won the taste buds of the region, scooping the 2014 British Street Food Award for the Midlands and continuing to introduce people to high taste, high-quality produce; prepared and served wherever great food is needed.

The team behind Big Daddies Diner are delighted with the opportunity to bring their expertise to the Snack Bar at Leicester Racecourse’s Nelson Grandstand where they will bring the freshest local produce and homemade classics to enhance every race-goers experience.

Rob explained, “We’re proud to provide all our catering in-house and as part of our drive to give the whole venue a fresh outlook, we wanted to try something new with the snack bar.  What we loved about Big Daddies Diner is not only the flavours they bring but that it is something a little bit special for Leicester, a step away from the standard offering at other racecourses.  Our aim is to exceed every visitor’s expectations and the food is no exception.”

Hot DogJeff Wilson and the rest of the Big Daddies Diner team will embark upon what is for them a new direction, but with the same ethos and passion that has made their mobile catering such an outstanding success.

Jeff added, “It’s a great opportunity for us, and for the racecourse, but fundamentally what we do will remain the same:  procuring the right ingredients from the best local suppliers and creating dishes which people will remember as adding to the enjoyment of their day. All our bread comes from Blaby and the cattle South Kilby.  We are proud to use the finest produce all from Leicestershire and we’re trying to give people the option to try street food at its very best:  high quality, high taste but without the high price.”

Rob’s commitment to the local community and his innovation and passion for food makes the partnership with Big Daddies Diner a perfect fit!  Together they are determined to promote the local economy and support small businesses whilst creating an improved experience for the racecourse customers. It’s all about great service, high quality produce and artisan menus created together to give customers something a little different and special.
