Bright and cheery, bold yet comfortable, the sunflower is a warm and caring gift. With brilliant yellow petals that surround the flower’s centre, sunflowers have an unmistakable sun-like appearance that has made them a passionate flower choice for many.

For four days each May, the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea come alive with the sights and smells of the finest collections of flowers in the world. On Tuesday 25 May the judges handed out dozens of medals from the coveted gold through to bronze.

The snowdrop is one of a select group of favourite flowers that have remained remarkably constant for more than four centuries.
