New Glennans pan fried vegetable crisps launch in Tesco

GlennansStaffordshire based family business, glennans vegetable crisps, recently tasted success when Tesco chose to listed the glennans range in the Midlands region. The 20g and 100g mixed vegetable crisps and 100g perfectly peppered parsnip crisps can now be found in around 90 stores in the region. The 20g size is the ideal snack size and great for lunchboxes and the 100g family size is great for sharing.

glennansTM was started by Bob and Brenda Glennan in 1986 in a small unit in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. The deliciously tasty glennans vegetable crisps are made with various vegetables that include parsnips, beetroot, sweet potato and carrots. They are carefully hand cooked in sunflower oil until golden and crisps before being mixed and flavoured by hand. glennans have been working closely with the same farmer since the very beginning, making sure that only the finest and freshest ingredients are used to make these incredibly tasty and fresh crisps.

glennansTM have been producing hand cooked vegetable crisps since 1994 but it has primarily been under private labels or for restaurants, bars and hotels. However, after a trial in the local Tesco’s near the glennans factory and also after much consumer demand the range has been launched regionally. The vegetable crisps have been available since September 2009 in ninety stores across the East Midlands, West Midlands and some stores in the North West as well.

The regional buyer at Tesco’s explains “The glennans crisps did very well on the trial, when we met the Directors we knew the product would do well however the range did so well that we wanted to put in them in all the regional stores we look after.” Richard Thompson Brand Manager at glennans contributed “The Tesco local team have been really supportive and encouraging. It is nice to work with people that care about local producers and want their products to do well. “

Sarah Glennan Director at Glennans remarked “It is really great to see our own brand on the shelves of the midlands stores. We have produced vegetable crisps for a long time but always under other brands, so this listing gives us a bit of recognition and puts the family brand out there.” Since 1986 glennans have gone from strength to strength and have now become the largest manufacturer of pan fried vegetable crisps in the UK and Europe

The vegetable crisps are ideal for a quick lunch treat, along side other party food or simply to snack on whilst curled up in front of the fire on a cold winters evening! glennans vegetable crisps can also be used more creatively either combined with salad and vegetables or use them crumbled up to create a breadcrumb texture, why not give your starters or canapés the ‘wow’ factor by using individual glennans crisps. The crisps are also great with sandwiches and even as a substitute for croutons, the possibilities really are endless.
