Bawdon Lodge Farm: So Much More than a Field on a Farm!


In 2015 Richard and Lynn Bailey launched weddings and events at Bawdon Lodge Farm in the heart of the Charnwood Forest. They host tipi and marquee weddings predominantly for clients who want to design their day for themselves: putting their own personalised mark on their wedding. 

How would you describe Bawdon Lodge Farm? 

Bawdon Lodge Farm provides the perfect blank canvas with great flexibility for your wedding or event plans. We don't offer structures or packages; we like to get to know you and help you to design your unique day based on your aspirations. 

What do you do that makes you different from similar venues? 

With many farm wedding and event locations where you hire the field that’s literally all you get! Here, we offer so much more than just a field on a farm! As well as a fabulous picturesque location, we offer planning and co-ordination to ensure that your special occasion runs smoothly. We are there to personally host and welcome you right from the start. 

We coordinate the logistics in the lead up to the wedding or event so once the suppliers have been booked by the client we will liaise directly with that supplier to find out any requirements they may have and manage their arrival on site. We also put together a schedule of the day, based on your timings, to make sure everything runs smoothly. There are of course times when things don’t go to plan but that’s why we are there with our team to help on the day. 

What do you enjoy most about your business? 

Meeting with clients and ensuring that their day is exactly how they want it to be. We tend to meet our wedding clients on around three occasions before the wedding day. Then during the four day hire period our clients are often on site with their families and close friends who are helping them with the tipi or marquee styling. By the end of this time we often feel we have built great relationships with them. We’re still in touch with all our clients following on from last year’s weddings! 

So what would you say has been your best moment so far? 

Seeing the looks on the faces of the couples as they enjoy their day and it is exactly what they wanted, knowing that we have been a part of helping to make that happen. 

What are your plans for the future? 

We will be offering a personalised drinks service for all of our weddings from this year. From our client feedback we know it’s the one thing they welcomed more help with. We will still continue to work with our industry friends who offer similar services and we’re shaping packages with them so we can offer a little bit more if clients want specific cocktail service or maybe a prosecco bar! We are excited to announce that we have received planning permission so our next project will include a coffee shop and small function room here at the farm. 


We’re also working in association with Sami Tipi & Benessamy Weddings & Events on our Spring Showcase event. The event takes place on Saturday 23 April and Sunday 24 April supported by a host of talented wedding suppliers. The perfect opportunity for you to see the tipis on location, styled and looking fabulous!
