Celebrity Luncheon with Fiona Cairns at Leicester Tigers stadium
One of Leicestershire’s most famous bakers, Fiona Cairns, will be the guest speaker at Rainbows Celebrity Luncheon at midday on 12th March, 2013 at the Leicester Tigers’ stadium.
Fiona shot to fame after she was commissioned to make the royal wedding cake for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The eight-tiered fruit cake was baked and decorated in her Leicestershire bakery, and displayed in the Summer Exhibition at Buckingham Palace.
Last autumn Fiona made a series for ITV, The Home of Fabulous Cakes. The programmes taught even the least experienced cook the easy techniques and tricks that make cake making and decorating achievable for all.
During the luncheon, Fiona will take the audience through a potted history of the Fiona Cairns last 25 years of her career and her company. She will give an insight into how she and her husband, Kishore, built up the business from the kitchen table. Fiona has also written two popular books on cake baking and decorating, Bake and Decorate, and The Birthday Cake Book. She will be signing the books on the day.
Fiona has been a kind supporter of Rainbows since she officially opened the brand new kitchen and dining room in May, 2011. Once again, she will be donating her time to the charity when she appears at the celebrity luncheon.
After lunch, guests will have the opportunity to meet and put questions to Fiona.
The Master of Ceremonies is BBC Radio Leicester Presenter, Dave Andrews. There will be an opportunity from 12.00pm - 12.30pm to browse stalls before lunch.
